Railway Recruitment Board-Allahabad The Railway Service Commission, Allahabad was originally housed in a large rented accommodation on Sardar Patel Marg, which was a well known landmark of Civil Lines, Allahabad. In January, 1985 Railway Service Commissions were renamed as Railway Recruitment Boards(RRBs). In 1990 the RRB had to give up the campus on Sardar Patel Marg, and move to its present accomodation in DRM Office Annexe. In 1998 all RRBs came under the control of the Railway Recruitment Control Board (RRCB) which was set up in the Ministry of Railways (Railway Board) to coordinate and streamline the working of RRBs. Jurisdiction RRB/ALD carries out recruitment of Group C staff for Allahabad, Lucknow and Moradabad divisions of Northern Railway, and for Diesel locomotive Works, Varanasi. Recently the RRB was also assigned the added responsibility of recruitment of Group D staff which was earlier the prerogative of the zonal railways. With the restructuring of Railway zones, RRB Allahabad has now been assigned the responsibility of recruitment work for North Central Railway, including both for the NCR headquarters office at Allahabad as well as for the three divisions at Allahabad, Jhansi, and Agra and also for DLW Varanasi.
